To date, the Northern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has granted over 3.2 million to local organizations for education, mammography screening, diagnostic and treatment programs. HAWC Community Health Center (775-336-3017) provides financial assistance to low-income, uninsured women under 40 for clinical breast examinations, self-breast exam education and training, breast ultrasounds, mammography, and breast biopsies and related pathology services, coordinated by a bilingual patient navigator, in Washoe, Storey, Lyon, and Douglas counties. Nevada Health Centers (775-888-6619) provides a mobile mammogram van that travels throughout the State to offer mammography services to women who typically would not visit a mammography center, or may be under or uninsured. Reno Cancer Foundation (775-329-1970) increases access to treatment for medically underserved, under and uninsured breast cancer patients in northern Nevada by paying for co-pays, insurance premiums, COBRA payments medication, transportation, housing and other out-of-pocket expenses.
Renown Foundation (775-982-4973) provides under and uninsured breast cancer patients with lodging, transportation and nutritional costs associated with seeking treatment, as well as prescription drugs, out-of-pocket co-payments and emergency surgical and needle biopsies when no coverage is available.
